Kevin Holdridge graduated with honors from Triangle Technical Institute in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1992 with an Associates in Specialized Technology—Computer Aided Design and Drafting Degree. The next two years he worked as an estimator / supervisor for a commercial construction company. Here he did cost estimates of projects up to three million dollars and then supervised the jobs. As a supervisor he scheduled the trades and worked along with his crews in order to get hands on construction experience. In 1994 he moved to the Charlotte area and began working with a very prestigious design firm. He began by drawing construction documents. As the company grew he became a catalyst in bringing in new technology to the firm and forming teams that would become the mainstay of the company. As a team leader he supervised up to six employees and began designing homes to supply his team with work. He designed show houses in the local area Home-a-rama shows in The Point, The Peninsula, Highgate, Highgorve and The Sanctuary. He also designed some homes in Charleston, SC and helped open a satellite office for the company in the heart of the city. In 2007 he began his own design firm and continues to supply the Charlotte area with high quality designs and working drawings.

In late 2007 Kevin Holdridge was accepted as a professional member of the American Institute of Building Designers. To meet the requirements for becoming a professional member he had to submit three different sets of working drawings to make sure his work was up to the National standards. Also he had to submit three letters of recommendation from past clients, employers and colleagues. In 2008 he attended the Eighth Annual North Carolina / South Carolina Spring Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC and has attended this AIBD spring conference every year since. He attends several continuing education seminars and networks with several other area designers. In 2009 Kevin was profiled in the Cambridge Who’s Who exclusive registry for showing dedication, leadership, and excellence in all aspects of home design. In 2014 Kevin passed the exam to become a Certified Professional Building Designer through the National Council of Building Designer Certification. Kevin is currently the President of the AIBD, Charlotte Metro Chapter where he and his constituents plan education and networking events as well as community projects. He is also the AIBD National Vice President where he works on a national scale to enhance and promote the residential design profession.

On the green building front, incorporating energy star appliances into your home is a start but as we look at an overall project there are a lot of opportunities to be conscience of the environment. From passive solar, using renewable building products, low VOC paints, high performance insulation, high performance windows to something as simple as recycling building waste. If being green is important to you, we can help you find something that fits into your budget and possibly pays you back. In 2008 Kevin Holdridge has completed his Green Building Professional Certification as a member of the Home Builders Association of Charlotte.

Construction know how and design ability has proven to be a great asset to Kevin as he continues to grow as a designer and business owner. He has recently designed several remodels and when remodeling, having good construction knowledge is key. He looks at the project through the eyes of a builder, seeing the difficulties and restrictions of the existing structure and knows how to achieve the goals of the project. The same said can be said of new construction. If there is ever an on-site construction question during the building process he can generally figure out a good clean way to fix the problem or will call on one of his associates if the situation is out of his realm of knowledge.

KDH Residential Designs’ testimonial page speaks for itself. Customer satisfaction is job one and there are very few things this firm can’t help their clients with. This company is very flexible in their services and take pride in the fact that they can do as much or as little as the client needs as fast or as slow as the client needs it done. With their location in The Birkdale Village in Huntersville, they are a short drive from the Lake Norman area, Uptown Charlotte and the Lake Wylie area. The firm does a majority of their work in the Charlotte metro area but still has a relationship with clients in Raleigh and as far south as Georgia. Everything the firm designs is custom but a Designer Series book is in the works, comprised of new fresh designs that have never been built prior to being in the series.

The company tagline is Designing Today's Homes for Today's Lifestyles and the firm does a great job in helping their clients get the most out of their property, their floor plan, and their budget. If you can dream it and fund it, this firm can make it happen.
